Running — 08 August 2011

Happy Monday! It was a LONG weekend complete with a LONG run. Week 15 of marathon training brought 15 lovely miles. As usual, I was up before the crack of dawn to meet my running group, Get Fit Atlanta.

The crack of dawn. It’s moments like these that make waking up with the birds all worth it.

We ran our regular route for the first 6 miles then got a little adventurous to keep things lively. Yup, that’s me after running through a one-lane covered bridge. Yikes! I would never do this by myself but there was a large group of us and we made sure the cars saw us.

Apparently, that wasn’t enough excitement so we took to the woods and did a little trail running. GASP!

I can’t lie, I was HAPPY to see this and get back on the pavement.

It always feels good when Lola proudly displays my distance.

It also feels good to enjoy a little runners recovery – chocolate milk and an ice bath!

First ice bath of this training cycle. Brrrrr, even though I was bundled up.

I’m looking forward to a busy but great week. I’m headed to an advance screening of The Help tonight; tomorrow Husband is having out-patient shoulder surgery (he won’t be able to drive for 6-8 weeks – GASP!, but he won’t be in pain anymore so its worth it); the dog gets her stitches out on Wednesday; and Thursday I’ll be doing a back to school television segment for Fox5′s Good Day Atlanta with My Atlanta Moms. Hmm, Friday I might just sleep …

Hope you’re ready for a wonderful week!

Winks & Smiles,

  1. I thought I was the only one that named my Garmin!!! HA! Mine is Apollo and I take ice baths the same way!! Hilarious! Great job!!

  2. I was introduced to ice baths as a college long and triple jumper. I quickly developed a love/hate relationship with it. It works and I do just like wifey. I bundle up. It never hurts, but I’ve always done it.

  3. Can’t wait to hear what you think of The Help. Did you read the book?

I took my first ice bath this weekend. I’ll do it again, but it wasn’t what I expected!! Yay for 15 miles :)
