Running — 06 July 2011

On the 4th of July I ran the AJC Peachtree Road Race with a mere 59,999 other folks. You can’t run in the world’s largest 10K and not take fun pictures, right?

Or, have a beer.

Gasp!

It wasn’t until I downloaded my pictures that I noticed a slight theme here. Ahem. You’ll see.

My sister picked me up at 6:45 a.m then we headed to Buckhead to find my father in the sea of people for a pre-race picture.

We found him at his corral and hung out for a few before we jumped into ours.

Hmm, I wonder where I get my love taste for beer?

We started in my sister’s wave so we could run together. Neither one of us were “racing” – it was a little too crowded for that.

We had fun shirts made. Coincidentally, they’re red, white and blue! (thanks Christie!)

Nicole rockin’ her shirt, excited to start!

I also ran in my new Dirty Red skirt – I love the fun slit in the front (thanks @SeeNicRun); and my New Balance 890′s. I officially love them.

Our wave started around 8:45ish. We didn’t get to the mile 1 marker before running by this – a BIG bottle of beer!

We hooked up with the bald eagle spectator dudes who I suspect have a love of beer, too. (They smelled like it.)

The Good Lord was looking out for us runners with a misting of Holy Water. *insert angelic singing here*

And, then it was back to the beer. No keg stands for me or my sister but this guy was having a great time!

We will, however, drink it out of a cup. I just couldn’t in good conscience run by a truck of Sweetwater 420! Gasp!

After conquering “Cardiac Hill” we celebrated! OK, the beer made me smile, too. Ahem.

Miles fly when you’re having fun! I didn’t even see the markers for 2, 3, or 4!

Always a welcomed site!

Right after we finished I ran into K. Rock, a fellow blogger! Shouts out to Felicia who came and said hello, too! It’s always great to meet folks in real life – smiles!

We found Husband and the Kids then went back to the finish line to cheer my dad on! Yay, Dad!

Me and Nicole’s “after” shot! I’m so proud of her – smiles!

She ditched the beer and chased this woman down like a crazy person found a popsicle instead.

After dropping everyone off at their cars Husband took me and the kids to Goldberg’s Deli for a bagel sandwich! YUM!

And of course we ended of the day with some BBQ and what else but BEER!

It was an AWESOME day and a fun run! Already looking forward to next year …

Winks & Smiles,
