McDonald’s Wholesome Choices Event with Fitness Expert Andrea Riggs

This morning I attended McDonald’s Wholesome Choices Kickoff Breakfast at one of their Atlanta area locations. I’m partnering with McDonald’s on their Wholesome Choices Blogger Program; and over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing my own tips and ideas for making more wholesome choices in your every day life.

Wait – did I just say McDonald’s?

Yup.

When I was first approached about participating in the event, I really gave it a lot of thought as I do my best to limit fast food and eat clean MOST of the time. I understand how important food is in creating a healthy me and everyday I’m learning to respect that more and more. I also understand how important moderation is – I’m an 80/20 gal! I strive to eat healthy 80 percent of the time but will allow myself to splurge and enjoy some things that might surprise you – gasp! I also am a realist. In a perfect world I would cook dinner every night and my floors would be clean enough to eat off of – NOT. In real life I do hit the drive-thru on days when we’re running from Milan’s tennis lessons to Miles’ basketball practice and the kids are screaming ready for dinner. When that happens I want to have some healthy options for the kids to choose from and teach them that balance and moderation are important. So, with that in mind, I met up with several local bloggers (and friends) and was treated to breakfast and a fun presentation from fitness expert, TV trainer, radio host and motivational speaker Andrea Riggs.
I sampled the Fruit & Maple Oatmeal, the Fruit ‘n Yogurt Parfait and the Fruit & Walnut Salad.

Andrea encouraged us to make small daily changes in Lifestyle, Nutrition and Fitness.

After talking about the importance of things like drinking water, eating breakfast and strength training she got everyone up on their feet to teach the proper way to do squats and lunges – two of my favorite go-to exercises.

Um, yeah – I’ll take those arms and abs please!

Andrea wrapped up her talk by challenging us all to set a goal for the next month;and to incorporate some nutritional changes and fitness into our lifestyles. You know I love goals! Ahemmy birthday. I was excited to see many of my blogging buddies motivated to take some steps in improving their health and fitness. Truthfully, McDonald’s is not where I thought they might find that motivation but I love that’s what happened! I’m looking forward to encouraging them; and to staying committed to reaching my goals, too.
