Running — 01 October 2012

Saturday my sister, Nicole, and I did our 8 mile training run with the lovely ladies of Black Girls Run hosted by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Half Marathon. We met at Phidippides in midtown and also ran with the American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation folks.

The Phidippides dude explaining the routes – they had 3 mapped out for everyone.

It’ was a beautiful morning for a run and a fairly flat, scenic route. It took us right through Piedmont Park.

I had to photo bomb my own photo. LOL!

Me and Nicole post run!

Darlene organized the run. She’s an Ambassador of Rock and a Co-Ambassador for BGR Atlanta.

They gave out goodies – T-shirts and water bottles for everyone. If you haven’t entered my contest to win a free registration to run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon or Half Marathon make sure to click the link and enter now. It’s a fun one!

I felt great during the run but lost my voice by the end of the night. Yikes! Yesterday, I couldn’t talk and spent two hours waiting at the After Hours care so they could tell me I couldn’t talk. Ahem. Fortunately, it’s not strep. The doctor, who was very helpful, suggested I rest, drink lots of fluids and be quiet. I already drink lots of water, but resting and being quiet don’t come easy for me. Seriously.

I did well yesterday and woke up this morning with half of my voice back. I’m going to be a good patient today and take it easy so I can get back in action tomorrow. Besides, I think my husband is enjoying me not talking a little too much. What he doesn’t realize is that once I can talk again I’m never going to stop. Ever.
