Events Fitness Life Running Travel — 04 January 2013

Yesterday I ran my first four miles of the new year. It’s been a rainy, gloomy week in Atlanta so it felt great to get outside and get moving.

I’ve been in holiday mode, the kids are still home from school, and truthfully some days have gone by without me even knowing which one it was. GASP!

My mind is shifting back to reality and when I looked at the calendar I was excited to see that the Zooma Florida Half Marathon & 5K, my first race of the year, is only two weeks away. This will be my second Zooma race, I ran the Zooma Atlanta Half Marathon last April, and my second time serving as a race ambassador. I love doing races – especially ones that know how to make a fun event out of it. Zooma’s mission is to inspire women to live healthy, happy & active lives. And, they like to throw parties, too. Yup, this is definitely my kind of event.

Renee, Tricia – Zooma’s fabulous social media maven, and me at Zooma Atlanta

Renee and I will be heading down to beautiful Amelia Island, Florida, for the race on January 19, 2013. There’s a half marathon – that’s what we’ll be running – and a 5K, too. It’s not too late to join in the fun. Here’s my race code for a 10% discount – FLAMB10. Bonus, if you register for any Zooma Race by January 12th you get a free tee.

Oh, did I mention the Honest Tea pre-race mocktail party on January 18, at 7 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island? They want to celebrate us runners and all of our accomplishments. Nice! If you’re running the race you can RSVP at Zoomarun.com.

If you are running Zooma Florida please make sure to say hello sometime during the weekend; I’d love to cheer you on …

Winks & Smiles,

Disclosure: As a Zooma Florida Race Ambassador I’m receiving a complimentary race registration and some other perks. As always, my thoughts and opinions – and race weekend fun – are all my own.
