Food Weight loss — 01 October 2012

Food, Glorious, Food. It’s so wonderful yet it’s such a pain in the ass – Gasp!

Here are highlights of Last Week’s Eats:

Food Faves:
I love my new mini-meal – apples and natural peanut butter on a whole wheat english muffin. The flavors taste great and it’s a nice mix of protein and carbs. I’m only eating it during the first half of the day because I’m limiting my starchy carbs after 6 p.m. Another food fave could also fall under food fails – my rib salad. Yikes! Ribs should be a no-no for me at this stage of the game, but I will say cutting them up and mixing them in with my spinach salad was the bomb. OK, rib season is over for me. #DoBetter! I promise. One last food favorite was the chocolate volcano cake. YUM! Husband and I went out to dinner Saturday night with my cousins and the four of us shared the one slice. It was the perfect splurge – not too much and it tasted outstanding. When I do treat myself to something so wrong, it better be good!

Food Fails:
During the same dinner with the cake I ordered a pasta dish and it came out SMOTHERED in cheese. (It’s the dish under the bananas.) I almost sent it back, but instead scrapped the cheese off and made do from there. Something inside told me not to order it – next time I’m going to listen to myself.

I’m still eating many of my staple foods including protein shakes after my workouts and drinking lots of water.

Oh, I almost forgot about this baby …

It’s a Brie burger with sautéed onions, Dijon mustard – no bun – and a side salad. I know the combination of flavors seem a little off but they were all working together. While the burger wasn’t lean, choosing no bun, no extra sauces, and skipping the fries or onion rings made this small splurge a winner for a Friday night out.

This Week’s Goals:
Portion control. I want to make sure that I’m not over or under eating my meals. I also want to have less splurges. No more ribs. Ahem. Oh, and one more – to find a farmers market or the most affordable place to buy fish that isn’t farmed and filled with chemicals.

As always, if you have any questions or suggestions I’d love to hear from you.
