Fitness Food Running Weight loss — 29 October 2012

Happy Monday, Everyone! I’m excited for a brand new week.

I’m headed to Savannah on Friday to run in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah 1/2 Marathon. Nicole, Renee, Yvette and I are doing a quick girls getaway – driving to Savannah on Friday, doing the race Saturday morning, then heading back to Atlanta later that day. Of course we’ll have to find some good eats in Savannah before we leave.

I’m looking forward to the race because it’s my first half marathon since the Zooma race at Lake Lanier last spring. Gasp! I’m doing two 5K races in November – I’m going to run the 5K this year with my daughter on Thanksgiving instead of doing the half – then I’m headed to Jamaica for the Reggae Half Marathon on December 1. Can. Not. Wait.

With all of this happening and Jamaica only 32 days away, I’m taking my training and food to the next level. Friday my sister and I did our last long run to prepare for Savannah.

We got in 9 miles even though I was feeling a little under the weather.

I’ve mapped out this week’s workout plan with Friday being my rest day.

Monday – Run 3-4 miles; strength training
Tuesday – Strength training at Atlanta Fitness Diva
Wednesday – Run 3-4 miles; strength training
Thursday – Run 4-6 miles; strength training
Friday – Rest; travel to Savannah
Saturday – Half Marathon

My food choices are going to be more strict in November – I’m determined to meet my goals. I realize I haven’t been posting as much about food and will make sure to share some more details, recipes, and my photo food journal as I tighten up over the next month.

I made some homemade chicken soup in the slow cooker yesterday. YUM!

I’m finding that eating healthier is making me want to cook more; and that I’m putting more care and thought into my meals. I’m getting more creative and using better ingredients – and I love that.

I’m off to start my day. Make sure to take the time today to do something healthy to take care of you.  And … I’m thinking of all the folks who have met or are in Hurricane Sandy’s path. Be safe!
