Things just got real here – real fast.
In June I shared that Renee and I were chosen to take part in the Ultimate Mother Runner Showdown to run the Ragnar Relay Race Series in Washington, D.C. the first weekend in October. We’re on Sarah’s team with 10 other fabulous mother runners who will take on a mere 199 miles over two days.
Well, last night our fearless leader, Sarah, sent out an email announcing our Ragnar Relay Runner Assignment which tells us when, where, and how long we run.
For the next 6 weeks – yes, Y’all, it’s coming FAST – my new favorite number is 12.
That’s right, I’m lucky runner #12. I’ll be taking on legs 12, 24, and bringing things home with the last leg – 36. FUN!
Each runner has different miles, elevations, terrains and degrees of difficulty for each of their three legs. Here’s mine:
It’s the second longest total miles out of all the runners. GASP! We’re nearing marathon miles here, people, within 48 hours and with very little sleep.
But don’t worry, I’m not scared. OK, maybe just a little. I’m actually extremely motivated. Even though my training over the summer has been somewhat sporadic and not quite what one should probably do when they know they’ll be running the almighty Ragnar (confession, I have yet to run a two-a-day), I feel encouraged because I just took on the Area 13.1 half marathon this past Saturday and rocked it – considering the circumstances. My recap with all those details will be up shortly, but let me just say running at night after a camping trip at the lake with my daughter’s Girl Scout Troop was great preparation for the Ragnar. Ahem.
It’s crunch time and I’m excited to go into Badass Mother Ragnar Runner training mode starting NOW. I can’t even imagine the shenanigans that are going to take place on this trip and I want to feel great so I can enjoy them all.
And, don’t forget it is a showdown. The Ultimate Mother Runner Showdown – and lucky runner #12 plans to be ready.
Winks & Smiles,
