Really, A Torn ACL?

Running

Three Things Thursday

1. Really, A Torn ACL?! How crazy is it that I’m not talking about me, the marathon runner in the house, but my dog – gasp!

Yes, this sweet doggie is hopping around on 3 legs after making a sharp turn running and tearing her ACL.

We took a trip yesterday to meet the vetinerarian my regular vet referred to do her surgery. Yes, I did say surgery. Anyone who has a dog knows that I might need a second job to pay for it. Just kidding. Not really. Anyway, I’m going to call and schedule the appointment for next Tuesday. She’s got pain medicine and anti-inflamatories to make her more comfortable until then. Me, I’ve got beer.

2. Training Denial. My second marathon is in 80 days. Um, hello! Something tells me I should be in serious training mode. I was wearing my Train Like a Girl T-shirt yesterday and it reminded me that I need to be TRAINING like a MARATHON girl.

One of my favorite shirts!

I’m in week 14 and I’ve got 13 miles on the schedule this week. The longest I’ve done this round is 10. My mixed doubles tennis season is over now so I can start doing all my long runs on Saturday mornings with my training group. That makes me happy.

3. Giveaway at RunFasterMommy.com. My girl Heather over at RunFasterMommy.com will be running the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon in November and hanging out with me and the gals for a little fun, motivation and celebration during Race & Relax. She’s giving away a Race & Relax free registration for all the fun stuff on her site now. If you’re interested in running in Savannah (I’m doing the half) and want to add a little support and smiles along the way we’d LOVE to have you!

I’ve been there! My dog torn his ACL about 5 years ago. So sending you both lots of good wishes for a successful surgery. I took the crate rest to heart for the 6 weeks after surgery even though he hated it. I think it made the difference.
