Running Weight loss — 07 December 2011

Oh, so that’s what they look like – my running shoes – on my feet, ready to run. I almost forgot.

It’s been two weeks. TWO.

That might seem like a short time to some, but it’s the longest I’ve gone without running all year.

GASP!

Why haven’t I run?

Good question. Since my last race on Thanksgiving Day I’ve sold my house and moved, my mother-in-law fell and broke her leg, and I have these little people that live with me named Miles and Milan that apparently need me for things like FOOD, homework and to be their personal chauffeur.

I’m not making excuses. Life happens – to all of us. Things get in the way. That’s pretty much par for the course.  A few months ago none of those things would keep me from an early morning run, but over the past two weeks I truthfully think I just needed a break. I didn’t realize that until I just typed it.

I love running. I love the way it makes me feel. I love what it does for my body. I love the running community. Even with all that love I simply needed to stop for a second and catch my breath – no pun intended. Well maybe just a little.

I’ve had a lot going on in my world recently, some expected and some unexpected, and I’ve had to make some changes to my personal plans. I didn’t do many of the things that I wanted to prepare for my next race and Operation Bikini. While I’ve pretty much maintained my weight and size, I didn’t go hardcore like intended. I had to make some choices.  And, I’m OK with that. I’m looking forward to setting some new goals; and I’m happy to see that my good eating habits and healthy lifestyle provides a strong base even when I’m not as active.

I’m also happy that I’m going to Miami in three days to run my 7th half marathon.

Booyah!

I’m looking forward to a weekend away, to lounging on the beach, and yes, to lacing up my running shoes for a fun 13.1.

Life isn’t always neat. It’s how you clean it up and keep things moving that matters.

Winks & Smiles,
