It’s summertime. The grills are fired up, the beer is cold and lazy summer mornings might have you hitting the snooze button just one more time. GASP!

Yes, losing focus during the summer can happen to even the most dedicated fitness mamas. Ahem. Having the kids home from school changes my schedule, and often my mindset. Here are three tips to keep us on track and motivated during the challenging summer months:

Post a Picture. There’s nothing like a little motivation all up in your face. Put a picture of you or your inspiration on your bathroom mirror, refrigerator or as your screensaver to visually remind you of your goals.

This magazine lives on my kitchen counter. Seriously.

Say it Loud and Proud. Every morning say your goal, out loud, before you start your day. Really want to be daring? Look in the mirror when you do it. Keeping your commitment fresh daily will help keep you accountable to yourself.

Raise the Reward. You might want to up the ante in the summertime. It can be more challenging so a bigger reward is totally appropriate when you meet your goals. Smaller more obtainable goals, with fun rewards can really get the momentum flowing.

Most importantly, if you slip up don’t beat yourself up! Always remember today is a NEW day which brings an awesome opportunity to get back on track.
