It’s been a long week – mentally, emotionally and physically.
The regular routine juggling Husband, the kids, my writing, running and all that fun is taxing on it’s on, but last week we added selling our house, getting everything out of it and sitting at the closing table within 24 hours. And, if that wasn’t enough, on Friday night my mother-in-law tripped in her kitchen and broke her leg. She’s 80, independent and walks 2 miles a day! Fortunately, she had no other injuries or complications when she had surgery to fix it on Saturday. She’s in great spirits and I’m so thankful … and tired.
I need a vacation.
I love traveling. My parents had me jet-setting since I was 6 months old. It’s one of my favorite things to do – even though it doesn’t always go smoothly. Ahem.
Sometimes you need a vacation from your vacation. Like if maybe you were trying to be economical and only got one hotel room for you, husband and the kids and within 4 hours of too much togetherness you were at the front desk begging for connecting rooms. Or, like Husband and my first vacation – ever. We were financially challenged and road tripped to the Florida Gulf. I love that area but not the hotel we picked. It was definitely low budget. Low budget like I wasn’t comfortable taking my shoes off in the room, or taking a shower, (eww) and the lovely smell of chlorine from the indoor pool right outside our door kept me up all night. Ironically, Husband told me after that trip he knew he could marry me. We can’t re-do that first vacation, but I’d visited the Florida Gulf several times since and I always enjoy going back.
One of my FAVORITE things to do on vacation.
I’m heading to Miami on Saturday to run the Rock n Roll Latin Music Miami Half Marathon and I’m praying I won’t need a vacation double take. I’m a co-panelist tonight on TravelingMom’s twitter party and will be taking great notes to make sure things go smoothly for me this weekend – I really need them, too!
