Fitness Food Life Running Weight loss — 18 October 2012

I wasn’t feeling well yesterday so I missed posting my Wordless (Weight Loss) Wednesday update. I woke up with a queasy stomach but still managed to lead my Black Girls Run weekly group on a four mile run. I also squeezed out some upper-body strength training. I felt fine for about an hour after that then it all went down hill.

Fortunately, I’m feeling better today. Not 100 percent but better. I’m glad because I’m traveling tomorrow and can’t afford to be sick.

OK, the update … last week I decided I’m not going to be a slave to the scale anymore and to ditch the scale pictures. I didn’t ditch my goals and my plan to get leaner and stronger; and to look fabulous when I run the Reggae Half Marathon in Jamaica on December 1st. My running buddy, Renee, came up with the bright idea to do the race in running bras – gasp! That’s even more incentive to keep working hard – and a fun excuse to go shopping. Ahem.

I’m pleased that I’ve stepped up my strength training and workout in my garage when I can’t make it into Atlanta Fitness Diva. Strength training is such an important part of creating the body I’m striving for.

I’m excited about my progress, but face a new challenge this week – traveling. As I mentioned earlier I’m headed to Philadelphia tomorrow with my family for the weekend; and then I’m off to Disney on Monday for a sneak peak at the new Fantasyland expansion in Magic Kingdom. Fun! I love traveling but it also brings a lot of temptation to stray from eating right and working out. I often give myself permission to let things go while I’m on the road and get back on track when I’m home. Not this time. If I’m going to meet my goals I’ve got to stay committed no matter where I am.

This trip I’m staying on track while traveling. I’m going to run and workout; and I’m going to be responsible with what I eat and drink. I’m claiming it! I’m sticking to my 80/20 rule and will enjoy myself, but keep things moving forward.

As always, I’ll be tweeting, instagraming and facebooking my trip – and I’ll make sure to post here while I’m on the road, too.
