Fitness Reviews Running Travel Weight loss — 23 October 2012

We had some free time before heading to our sneak peek at the new Fantasyland today, so I decided to go for a run and get my workout on at the fitness center at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Wouldn’t it be nice if Disney magic and pixie dust melted fat and built muscle? Um, Yes!  But, since it doesn’t, I’m staying on track and making sure I’m getting my workouts done.

I’m staying at the Polynesian Resort, directly next to the Grand Floridian. Guests at the Polynesian have full access to use their workout facilities. They’re actually doing some renovations to that building right now, but they set up a remote fitness center so that dedicate folks like us have no excuses to skip our workouts. Ahem.

My pre-workout eats to get me going. I picked them up at Captain Cooks – the Polynesian’s quick service restaurant.

I ran approximately two miles through the Polynesian Resort then over to the Fitness Center. The Polynesian has a running route print out you can pick up at the concierge if you prefer outdoors over the treadmill. It was a gorgeous morning with some great views.

When I saw the fitness center – in a tent – I wasn’t quite sure this was going to work, but of course Disney had it handled. I walked through the door into an air-conditioned gym. The floor was properly padded, they had plenty of cardio and strength training equipment, free weights and more. I felt comfortable and forgot it was located in a parking lot.

The walk back to my hotel was a perfect cool down. I saw my chariot waiting but I told them to wait for the next princess.

 Winks & Smiles,
Disclosure: I’m attending a media preview of the new Fantasyland at Walt Disney World Resort. My travel and accommodations are provided by Disney. As always, my thoughts and opinions are all my own.
