Happy Monday, Everyone!
I’m back from my family weekend trip to Philadelphia and New Jersey. Well, sort of. I got home about 12 hours ago, but I’m sitting in the airport now waiting for my flight to Orlando to go have a sneak peek at the new Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom opening in December. Fun!
We had an AWESOME time this weekend. We stayed at the Omni Hotel at Independence Park in Philadelphia and loved it. I’ve stayed at several Omni properties before and they’ve easily become a favorite of mine. The rooms are upscale but affordable and the customer service is always stellar. I’ll share more details about our stay in separate post soon.
We were there to attend the Hall of Fame Game at Husband’s hometown high school. They inducted my late father-in-law, Leon “Bullet” Robertson, into the school’s Hall of Fame because of his dedication and commitment to their community. My in-laws opened their home, and their hearts, to their community; and my father-in-law trained and practically raised decades of young men who played football for Pennsauken High School. It was awesome to go back there and see the love and lives of the people he affected.
Husband accepted the award on his father’s behalf.
Husband and his mom – all smiles!

I had to share this picture of my father-in-law – he was a marathon runner, too. I choose the Marine Corps Marathon as my first marathon because of him.

Napoleon’s late Aunt Ellen was also inducted on Saturday. She was the city’s first African American bus driver and had such passion and dedication to the kids, the school and community. This pic is of three of her five kids – Bruce, Linda and Bobby.
I’m so glad the kids were there to see the community honor their Pop Pop. It was important to us to bring them to honor their grandfather and to show the importance of giving back.
I’ll post an update about my training and food later. Husband and I worked out Saturday morning at the Omni – their gym at the spa is the bomb! I’m determined to stay on track with my fitness goals – even while traveling! I’ll also share more pictures from our trip. We had a blast walking around Philly and seeing some of the historic sites.
I’m off to catch my plane. Make sure to do something active to take care of you today!
Winks & Smiles,
Disclosure: I received a media rate for my stay at the Omni Hotel. As always, my thoughts and opinions are all my own.
